Description
Bronze, Patina, and Driftwood
A jaguar struggles against the grip of an octopus, tentacles wrapping and pulling in a battle between land and sea. The moment is at its peak—neither has the upper hand. The jaguar’s muscles tense and tired, claws bared. There’s small success in severing tentacle after tentacle but the cat’s losing lives in the process. The octopus is unrelenting, its limbs still reaching in turn. The bronze and patina highlight the contrast between silky fur and skin, and the driftwood base anchors the battle on the ocean floor.
This piece plays with the tension of opposing forces, leaving the outcome uncertain for us. When the countdown reaches zero, the battle of lives versus limbs will end, but for now the moment is frozen in time.
